JULY 2010, Sedona & Grand Canyon

<< LAST MONTH'S BLOG   |   NEXT MONTH'S BLOG >>

When we arrived in Sedona and got out of the car I was completely mesmerized by the powerfully rejuvenating scent. The inner child within me became intoxicated with this earthy smell. It was like an endless incense stick captivating my senses. The villa was the most authentically beautiful place we had ever stayed in. I felt I had entered another world as the natural landscape, a red mahogony colour, was something I had never seen before. After we settled in to the villa, I was so eager to get to the vortexes to experience the high power energy that I had read so much about. I stay away from expectations so that I am able receive and experience all that is around me with an open heart. When you don't have expectations then you're never disappointed and you can allow yourself to be free to experience all that is meant for you. There are 4 vortexes: the masculine side, the feminine side, the balance between the masculine and feminine and then the last which is the strength of all three the feminine, masculine and Balance. We started with the Feminine side Red Crossing/Cathedral Rock and hiked up the creek towards the centre of Cathedral rock. The energy of the feminine side is said to "strengthen the ability to allow others their rights and not interfere with those rights; kindness, compassion, patience and the ability to let others need you an depend on you; and lastly is strengthens the ability to anticipate the impact of your actions before you act, which is what considerateness is all about." As we hiked to the centre we could feel a sense of lightness, a sense of calming peace flow through our beings and opened our hearts further to loving kindness and compassion. We found a log sitting in a shaded area by a tree and sat there in reflection and allowing the flow of energy to surge within. We also brought along books to read and continued sitting while reading enriching our minds with wisdom. On our way back there was a beautiful little canyon where many people jumped in for a swim. Since I didn't have my bathing suit, dunking my feet in the calming water was the next best thing!

That evening, we decided to go to the Airport Vortex, the masculine side, which we heard had the most splendid sunsets. Even though the clouds had moved in that afternoon, we were able to catch a beautiful sunset over the Sedona skyline. The energy of this vortex is said to strengthen the masculine side. "Having a strong masculine side means being good at taking risks when appropriate, being decisive when necessary, being able to focus or concentrate in order to get things done, being good at figuring out how to get out of life what is desired, and how to reason without distorting reality." Keeping these in mind we stood at the top of the hill, overlooking Sedona and breathing in the energy. The way to know where the strongest energy is in the vortex is to look for a twisted Juniper tree. The Juniper trees react to the energy but their branches growing in an axial twist instead of going straight down. There were an incredible number of Juniper trees the next morning when we hiked through the Boynton Canyon Vortex area arriving at a 30 foot high knoll. The energy at this vortex strengthens both the masculine and feminine as they say the yin/yang balance. "Having a good masculine/feminine balance helps relationships work well, such as intimacy, commitment, honesty and openness." When we experience equal balance between the masculine and feminine energies there truly is a remarkable sense of harmony in our relationship with the self and others. One would say that "I feel lighter, more open & present and all moment experiences are enhanced. As we sat meditating on the 30 foot knoll it felt like time had stood still and pure peaceful bliss is all we knew. Imagine finishing off at the fourth vortex at Bell Rock. The energy at that vortex was said to be very powerful as it strengthens all three, masculine, feminine and balance and the twisted Juniper trees were all along the trail. As we enjoyed the peaceful walk up to a closer platform in front of bell rock, we felt a deep sense of gratitude for having the blessed opportunity to experience the powerful vortex energies and the immense beauty.

Before going back to our villa we stopped in a few shops. We walked in a book shop and as soon we opened the door in front of me were two books written on orbs. It was finally time to learn more and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time than in Sedona. After purchasing the books, we visited a crystal shop as I absolutely love the Earth's crystals. I fell in love with this particular pendant made with moldavite, clear quartz and mother of pearl. The moldavite is one the rarest Earth crystals and is said to have intense metaphysical properties, enhancing spiritual awareness. When you wear it you can feel a deeper intense energy and heightened awareness. To top of that magical day, we went to watch another sunset and were pleasantly shown for the first time coloured orbs of red and blue/green. After enjoying the beautiful sunset we ate at a lovely Vegan restaurant and bought kale chips for the drive the next morning to the Grand Canyon. The scenic route to the Grand Canyon was a feast for the eyes, definitely one of the most splendid drives I've ever had. It had been highly recommended to us that we take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon to get up close and personal and that we did. I had never been on a helicopter before so you could have just imagined the sheer excitement. I'm glad that my first experience on a helicopter was the overview of the glorious canyon. We were even provided with headphones playing music that completely enhanced the experience. From an aerial view, the Grand Canyon was massive but it wasn't until we were walking on the rim that we fully experienced its grandeur. I was speechless when I stood literally at the end of the rim with no guardrail or barrier. I simply sat on the edge looking out to the right, left and below and breathing in the natural beauty with such awe and wonder. There is no question as to why the Grand Canyon is one of the seven wonders of the world. The most incredible feeling for me was when I sat meditating at the edge and prayed for Unity consciousness, for humanity to awaken, for harmony of peace, joy, love & eternal bliss.
